This year Annual General Meeting 2022-2023 has it theme : Cooperative Society and Sustainace : Enhancing Opportunities for Improved Welfare Of Members In Contemporary Nigeria”.
Speaking on the topic, the guest speaker Mr Nansel Gambo adviced member not to invest on consumables but invest wisely to avoid regret in the future
The grand plan by some vested groups and personalities to destabilize the and ridicule the Government of barrister Caleb Mutfwang Government of plateau State just like other middle belt State has been uncovered.
As this is not surprising as it has been reoccurring case from the time of the founding fathers of the state, since the reigns of J.D Gomwalk , Chief Solomon Dashep Lar, Senator J.D Gang suffered the same fate during their separate administrations but remained resolute and undaunted.
Group under the auspices ” Forum of Former Youth Leaders (Veterans) plateau state chapter raised the alarm in a press conference held at the Nigerian Union of Journalists (Nuj) Secretariat in plateau State council,30th October 2023.
The forum said the court as an umpire , must be able to see that what is more important at this point in time as it relates to plateau state is the issue of Locus Standi, legitimacy , popularity and aftermath of any further rather that legal sophistication.
The Press statement read by the leader of the forum, Ibrahim Yakubu said Plateau People are peace loving ,as against this backdrop ,any efforts by some people to suppress the collective resolve of the people of the state would be resisted,as the people have already expressed their choices in the legitimate Ballots which records that PDP was returned elected both at the state and federal legislative level .
The forum appealed with the supreme Court to interveiled in the apparent destruction of legal precedence as seen by the recent Judgements in the case of plateau state legislators and return the mandate of the people to the legitimate owners .
The forum called on the Nigerian Judicial Council (NJC),to take urgent steps to address the lack of morality and Justice in the Judicial system , particularly the court of Appeal in Abuja, urgued to be brave, noting that the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men such as you to do nothing.
Called on the President Federal Republic of Nigeria Ahmed Bola Tinubu to rise up to the occasion of defending our evolving democracy in plateau state and Nigeria at large.
Expressing the miscarriage, the forum said the law is clear and unequivocal about the key issues under contention , the alleged claim of non compliance to Justice Gang Judgement that directed the plateau PDP to have repeat Congress which it actually did on the 25th September 2021.
Further asked that if the state EXCO of PDP did not Conduct primary election as insinuated by the APC,for the nomination, Sponsorship of Candidate so much if the court says that the state EXCO was not properly constituted, how does that affect the nomination process conducted by a properly constituted National Working committee (NWC) of the party?
To buttress his point,he cited Section 84 Sub14 of the electioral Act 2022 as Amended , and Section 87(9) of the electioral Act 2019 as Amended.
Stressed that there was court order directing the party PDP to re-conduct the state congresses, the question is that ,is APC or any other party a party to that suit for it to derive any benefits there from? Which is no.
The forum said the suit under reference is instituted by member of PDP which makes it an internal affairs of PDP , further said if any body is aggrieved by the nomination of Candidates by the party without re- conducting the state congresses , it should be the members of the party? Lamented that the court is nullifying the election of PDP because of nomination issue put forward by APC which is another Party.
Said it’s ridiculous to hear appellants arguing that they are not Challenging the nomination, only sponsorship , however questioned the difference .
We aren’t aware of the position of the Apex court of the land, Supreme Court citing the case of Jegede Vs INEC to support his argument.
Further said the matter is already settled in the case of Atiku Abubarkar Vs Shettima which become very instructive .
Justice Jauro of the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja agreed with Lateef Fagbemi that no matter how pained PDP is,it most be an on looker . They further stated that the PDP is poking nose into the affairs of another party which makes them meddlesome interloper and busy bodies.
Add that the court of Appeal that sat in Abuja today led by Justice Chioma Nwosu Iheme in the case of Tarfaya of the APC , challenging the nomination, qualification and Sponsorship of PDP Dr.Midala Bulami of the PDP and also challenging supreme Court order by PDP in Borno State.
The Appeal tribunal in that case held that the appropriate place to challenge the nomination, Sponsorship of Candidate including disobedience to court order is high court ,not Appeal or any other Court.
The forum however lamented the mischief of injustice, suppression of the will of plateau People and the 17 local government Area of the state, lovers of democracy are worried and concern on the ongoing delivery of Judgements which has created uncertainties ,fears, doubt and apprehension in the political landscape of plateau state.
Stressed that the victories of Senator Simon Mwadkwon Representing Plateau North, and his counterpart Hon.Musa Agah , member Representing Bassa/Jos North ,and Hon.Isaac Kwallu , member Representing Qua’an-pan , Shendam ,Mikang both at the polls as well as the Election Tribunal truely represent the chioce of the people and nothing should deny the people their rights.
Reminded the good citizens of the state never to forget that justice is not a gift to be allocated to anyone you so desire but has to be in tandem with the will of the people in order to guarantee peace , Justice and equity.
They all the Judgements against the members of the people Democratic Party PDP is to say the least “Miscarriage of Justice”.

The dust accompanied the nullification of the election of member Representing Plateau North Senatorial districts in the National Assembly Dr.Simon Mwadkwon and member Representing Jos North/ Bassa federal house of Representatives Hon.Musa Agah may not settled in a hurry.
As the legal luminary and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Professor Mike Ozekhome has said the Appeal Court may not have been abreast with the Supreme Court recent judgements on the issue of structure nomination and sponsorship of Candidate in relation to election.
Professor Mike Ozekhome (SAN),was speaking in an interview with journalists shortly after adoption of final written address in election Petition tribunal involving Ambassador Yohanna Gotom , Petitioner and Senator Diket Plang 2nd Repondent over Plateau Central Senatorial district election Petition tribunal sitting in plateau state 24th October 2023.
The Senior Advocate of Nigeria Mike Ozekhome who is the Counsel to the Petitioner Ambassador Yohanna Gotom said l don’t want to use strong words so that I will not be quoted out of context.
Said as it regards the Appeal Court Judgement which nullifies the election of two plateau PDP members in the National Assembly, I want to strongly believe that the appallet court is not abreast with the recent Judgement regarding to structure, nomination and Sponsorship of a candidate by a political party.
Further stressed that the reason for my believe is that the court of Appeal’s attention was not drawn to the recent Supreme Court Judgement including the one I participated at the supreme Court involving Shettima the present Vp of Nigeria case.
Ozekhome said the Apex Court has since laid the matter to rest when the supreme Court said you cannot question PDP whether they have structure or not because it’s Internal affairs of the party.
Added that this is because according to the supreme Court Judgement, you can not peep on the affairs of your neighbor when you are not an aspirant in the election of the party, so APC didn’t participate in PDPs election and lack Locus Standi to Challenge the structure, nomination and Sponsorship of the party.
He stressed that even as at yesterday 23rd October 2023, the supreme Court still ruled on the same subject matter that involved structure, nomination and Sponsorship of any particular Party which is an internal affairs of that party.
Lamented how things eventually turned in this particular case involving two national Lawmakers of plateau PDP which make me strongly believe that the Appeal Court is not abreast with the Supreme Court recent judgements regarding the subject matter. He maintained.
