2023 Nasarawa State Governorship Elections, Prof.Tanko Ishaya Exonerates From Alleged Compromise.

By, giwa  alex, jos

The vice Chancellor  of the University  of Jos, Nigeria, Professor  Ishaya  Tanko  have  been  exonerated  from alleged  compromise  following  his inducement alleged  allegations  by certain  political  party  in Nasarawa  state , north Central  Nigeria where he serves  as returning  officer in just  concluded  2023 Governorship Election  in the state.

Group  under the  the auspices of “League Of Concerned Professionals in Plateau State” exonerated  the Returning Officer  Professor Ishaya Tanko of all allegations leveled against him by opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP in Nasarawa State Chapter at a press briefing held at the Nigerian Union  of journalist (NUJ), Secretariat   in Jos, Plateau State capital.

The League under the leadership of Barrister Chesil Drenkat described the allegations as baseless, stressing  that Prof. Tanko is a man of integrity, patriotic, forthright, God fearing and above  all a perfect gentleman that cannot be bought to rig election as claim by the PDP.

Barr. Drenkat said the league find it important to hold the press conference to debunked  what they described as smear campaign against the person and personality of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Jos and to let the world know that the Prof. is a gentleman of repute with very high integrity, selfless, God-fearing gentleman that they can be trusted anytime.

“As concerned Professionals who know and can vouch for the person of Professor Tanko Ishaya, by the special grace of God, the Vice Chancellor of Uni-Jos,  we feel compelled to rise to the occasion by not only putting issues into their proper perspective but to counter and dispel this dangerous campaign of calumny against a patriotic, forthright, God fearing perfect gentleman in the person of Professor  Tanko Ishaya.

“Prof, Tanko have contributed to securing, implementing and managing external grants of over 15 Million US Dollars to the University of Jos. He currently holds 4 funded research grants, including the Search and Development of Artificial Intelligence. In the administration of all these funds he attracted to the University of Jos, he has never been found wanting in accountability and management of the funds.

“We submit therefore that Prof. Tanko Ishaya is no stranger to money and no candidate in Nassarawa State irrespective of political party can entice, induce or influence this man of high pedigree with some paltry sums of money, if any, most likely in Nigeria Naira to influence this principled, focused and God-fearing gentleman.

“We on the Plateau, cherish and respect Prof. Tanko as an accomplished scholar, far beyond the entire value associated with the local politics in Nassarawa State.

Nassarawa State politics cannot afford the price of Prof. Tanko Ishaya because he is a priceless Jewel with unshakable fear and faith in God in addition to his forthrightness.” The group maintained .

The group explained further add that the role played by the Prof. as a Returning Officer was to await the final result collated and certified at unit level in form EC8a, at Ward level in form EC8b, at L.G.A level in form EC8c before finally getting to him for final collation in form EC8d.

“We challenge any person, party or candidate to fault the role played by Prof. Tanko in this regard. In all the foregoing, the political parties had their agents who were bound to be vigilant and alive to their responsibilities at all stages of the collations.

“It is therefore preposterous, reckless and unfounded to assert or hold the erroneous notion or conclusion that this man of unwavering integrity, incorruptible man of honour can be or was actually induced by money or whatever material thing (s) to proclaim and announce a winner in the Gubernatorial Elections in Nassarawa State.

“Mindful of the fact that losers always have inflammable tendencies of misdirecting reason (s) for their losses and more often transfer of their aggression, we state categorically that blaming Prof. Tanko Ishaya over such unfounded and unsubstantiated claims of inducement and corrupt practices on the outcome of Nassarawa State Gubernatorial Election is one of such misguided, misdirected claims by very bad losers in an election that is particularly adjudged to be very competitive.”

They however advised the aggrieved party to find areas of electoral infractions/fraud, none conformity to the Electoral Act, 2022/Guidelines that will substantiate and proof their claims at Election Petition Tribunals, instead of seeking to find fault in the role assigned to Prof. Tanko Ishaya as the State Returning officer.

It could be recalled that since the declaration of Nasarawa State Governorship election results that returned the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Alh. Abdullahi Sule as winner, group of women have continue to stage protest stark naked at the state Headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC in Lafia, accusing the Returning Officer of the election, Prof. Tanko Ishaya of sub-changing the real winner of the election.

It was a surprise to many when Biggs stepped down and Nentawe resurfaced from the Blues dominating other big wigs of the party because his political God Father is in heaven.

Which is the very wrong step of APC to failure, since then it has been “One Week One Trouble” for APC in the state, that finally sink the party into political abyss.

Following the political quagmire involving the Senatorial election in the Plateau Central Zone between Hon.Diket Plang of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and his contender in People Democratic Party (PDP), Ambassador Yohanna Gotom where the two of political big wig are lay claim to victory separately.

As the candidate of the All Progressive Congress APC, Diket Plang has send warning to PDP and it candidate Hon.Yohanna Gotom to maintain status quo  and wait for final decision of the electoral umpire INEC in the matter and avoid putting law into his hand as no one has monopoly of evasive action.

Diket Plang warning is contained in a statement dated 23rd March 2023, signed by him and made available to this medium in Jos.

He condemned the recent action of some group under the name  of “Plateau Central Zone Forum (PCZF) who invaded the INEC Headquarters in Jos , with a letter of ultimatum to declare their candidate Ambassador Gotom winner of February 25th Senatorial election within 74 hrs or face their raft. The statement which reads in part, said our attention has been drawn to the visit of a group of people in the name of PDP plateau central zone forum (PCZF) to the headquarters of INEC in Jos to submit a demand letter to the REC commissioner .

The group purportedly gave him an ultimatum to declare one Ambassador Yohanna Gotom as winner of the February 25th Senatorial election for plateau central within 74hrs or face their raft. The group believed that Ambassador Gotom won the said election but was denied victory.

He stressed ,I would have simply ignore their rant which in the real sense signifies the wagging of the tail of a dying Horse, but doing so will not allow them realised the fatality of their ignorance on situations as this.

He further said that the new electoral law is unambiguously clear in situations as this which they should have consulted to clear their doubts particularly their leader, a former speaker of the plateau state House of Assembly whom I respect much and who in his capacity as a former law maker should have known better and advise the irate mob to steer clear of such baldadash.

And further said the result of the said election clearly revealed that I was the clear winner leading with over four thousand votes, but for  reasons best known to the returning officer he failed to declare me winner after canceling the result of Gagdi ward and yet leaving me on the lead.

However warned that no one has the monopoly of evasive actions but because we are very confident that victory is ours, we shall wait patiently for the direction of the electoral umpire in this matter.

He add that no amount of treat, lies, intimidation and propaganda will take  the decision of the electoral body away from the will of the people has reflected in their majority votes to me.

PDP Condemn Attack On Innocent People In Plateau.

By,giwa alex, jos

The Directorate Of people Democratic party (PDP) has watched some video clips on social media which appeared to show some unidentified persons that purportedly took it upon themselves to harass members of an opposition party in Mangu LGA following the victorious emergence of His Excellency Barrister Caleb Mutfwang as the Governor-Elect of Plateau State.

Similar incidents have been reported to have occurred in  some areas of Kanam and Kanke LGAs where supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were also allegedly attacked.

The narratives behind some of the alleged attacks are the vile attempts to attribute them to the Governor-elect.

The attacked was condemned by PDP Directorates of Media and Publicity Yiljab Abraham and made available to this medium.

The statement Captioned: “Viral Videos, Vile Versions”  read in part, the party condemned the unwanted attacks  by some citizens on fellow citizens which are  totally unnecessary and uncalled for.

This is because all candidates in the recently concluded Gubernatorial Elections remained brotherly and accommodating towards one another in all their meetings.

In addition, the campaigns of the then PDP Candidate Barrister Caleb Mutfwang were characterised by the peaceful and orderly conduct of officials and crowds of supporters of the party right across the state. As a matter of fact, they were the ones attacked in some places, particularly Shendam.

Moreover, when public agitations were mounting on account of fictitious election results from Jos North LGA being circulated on social media purportedly to indicate that the PDP had lost the governorship election, was Barr Mutfwang who rose to the occasion and personally called for calm.

He followed it quickly with another appeal for peace within 24 hours when the electoral processes were nearing completion. He cautioned the citizens against responding to provocations which he saw as attempts to disrupt and abort the processes.

The Governor-elect does not approve of wild and provocative celebrations capable of instigating violence.

We assert that those who have perpetrated such acts have done so on their own and not on behalf of the Governor-elect.

Consequently, the Directorate is appealing to members of the public, particularly supporters of the PDP to be magnanimous in victory and see supporters of those who contested with the Governor-Elect as brothers and sisters.

We call on security agencies to investigate, apprehend and prosecute in accordance with relevant laws anyone suspected of being involved in provocation and assault, including the circumstances surrounding the uploading of the videos on social media.

The victory of His Excellency Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang is a victory for Plateau people across ethnic and religious lines. It has sent waves upon waves of joy all over Plateau and across her borders.

The Governor-elect, Barr Caleb Mutfwang remains a man of peace.

APC Sponsor Group Seeks Restitution, Claim Hired As Propagandist Tools By PDP During Election In Plateau.

By, giwa alex, jos

Group allegedly sponsored by the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in plateau state has resurfaced seeking for restitution claimed that they were willing tools for propaganda on the payroll of the Opposition PDP in the state.

The group under the auspacies of Repentant members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) propaganda machinery has confessed their sins and avail the people of Plateau State of certain untoward conduct and sponsored evil machinations perpetrated by them just to make sure that the APC Governorship Candidate Dr Nentawe Yilwatda did not win last Saturday Governorship election in the state.

The confession and possible restitution of the group was made at Azi Nyanko Youth Centre in Jos, plateau state capital on Wednesday headed by the leader of the group Habila Joseph.

With the sudden resurfaced of this APC Sponsored mega phone to discredit the hard fought and won victory of the People Democratic party (PDP) in the state is a pointer that the party who held sway in power for 8 years with little or nothing to show for it ,is not ready to enter the moving train.

According to Habila, we feel it is expedient and necessary to come out and talk to purge and relieve their conscience of the moral burden they have placed upon themselves through the perpetuation of evil propaganda against Nentawe Yilwatda the candidate of the All Progressive Congress which skewed the minds of the people of the state against him.

He explained that as a matter of fact and without any fear of indictment, reprimand, or arrest by the security agencies they want to bring to public knowledge that they became willing tools and agents of blackmail and character assassinations in the hands of the PDP to bring down the most qualified and formidable Candidate, Nentawe Yilwatda of the APC.

“Regrettably and shamefully too, we were given inducements and the necessary backing to publish all forms of falsehood, especially in the social media portraying Nentawe as an agent of the Hausa-Fulani.”

He pointed out that it would also be mind-boggling and surprising to some to ask why coming at this time to make such startling revelations when the election is all over adding that the elections might have been over but the mental torture they are going through seems to have just begun looking at the number of innocent Christians who might have believed the false propaganda which we made them believe.

“We chose to come out now because of the serious spiritual and psychological torture we are going through. Promptings hence the need to come out and publicly confess our misdemeanor to absorb our conscience.

Habila further said “Consequently I and my friends in this obnoxious and wicked assignment, feel there is no reason for jubilations having known fully what transpired before and during the election. Worst of all is the kind of massive rigging and result manipulations that characterized the outcome of the election in some parts of the state particularly in Mangu and Jos- South local government areas.

He also added that they want to make it abundantly clear that should the need arises, they will be willing to mention names of sponsors of this dastardly conduct and actions saying they will also tell the world all the mouth-watering promises made to them in the event PDP won the governorship election.

“While we are not sure of the extent that our indecent manipulation of public opinion might have influenced the voting pattern of the unsuspecting voters, we want to profoundly ask for forgiveness from Dr. Nentawe, and the entire people of Plateau State.”

By, giwa alex, jos

As the opposition Party, People’s Democratic Party (PDP), in plateau state said the Council boss, Honourable Shehu Bala practically throw away his Honourable toga during the election in his domain to exhibit behavior that go contrary to his position as  local government Chairman of Jos North local government of plateau state.

According to the party agent Davou, said the arrest and trial of the council boss, Honourable Usman is imperative because of his role during the election , where he was always conspicuous at most of the polling units where election were going on trying to influence the votes in his domain to favor his political party , All Progressive Congress APC.

That the chairman was caught on several occasions addressing the INEC ad-hoc election Officers who are mostly hausas probably on how to manipulate the voting machines BVAS to the favor of the party.

During this period, the party agent Davou said the council chairman  practically abandoned his chairman  responsibility and practically relocated his office to the voting centre as he was frequently seen parading round the voting centres.

Stressed that the interior motive of the Chairman was later exposed when the commission ad-hoc staff in charge of conducting  election, absconded  with 14 polling Units results and  same numbers of BVAS Machines.

Sadly, he said the affected polling Units were the strong hold of our party, people Democratic party PDP, with the bids to distort the results of our party PDP,  the action of the chairman violated the electoral Act of 2022 unamended.

As against this background,we as a political party  are calling on the electoral umpire INEC, to arrest and prosecute the local government chairman ,Shehu Bala for gross violation of electoral Act which is tantamount to electoral fraud  and made to pay the price if find guilty.

The party further add that the commission should not allowed the matter to be sweep under the carpet like some of the numerous reported case of election fraud mostly Involved the ruling Party APC.

The party reiterated it confidence on the commission, but urged it  not to allow this serious allegations leveled against the chairman to go uninvestigated, if find culpable, punish according to the law.

Although ,the BVAS Machines Carted away by the commission’s ad hoc staff under the supervision of the chairman, was reported to have be returned.

That is not enough reason why the  Council chairman should not be punish to serve as deterrent to any intended election robbery which violated the electoral Act.
