In his desirous efforts to boost Plateau state Internal Generated Revenue(IGR), governor Caleb Mutfwang has flagged off digitalization of the operations of Tricycles riders aka Keke NAPEP operating in Jos Master plan.
As the governor further add that the initiative of the government to digitalize the activities of all the tricycles operators , particularly those operating within Jos Master plan, will help to reduce, if not totally eradicated the incessant crimes and criminality allegedly involved by some people masquerading themselves as member of the union.
Governor Mutfwang represented by the honourable Commissioner of transport Davou Gyang Jatau stated this during the flag-off of Integrated Tricycle Transport Management System (ITTMS) held at the conference hall Joseph Gwomwalk Secretariat 13th December 2023.
The governor said all the details of the legitimate operators in the state will be uploaded to the database which will enable the government to plan along with the numbers of Tricycles operating in the state, and track any of the bad eggs within their fold.
He stressed that the government initiative will also be advantageous to the operators in the sense that government will consider lifting the recent restrictions of the operation of tricycles from 6am-6pm following reported cases of some criminals parading themselves as members killing and robbing defenceless commuters to more appreciable time like 8am-8pm because the government the would be confident that operator who is involved in anything funning will be track by the government through the database. appeal to the stakeholders to prevail on their members to present themselves for data capturing within (30) days from the day of this flag- off because after the period given by the government ,any tricycle operator whose name is not in the database, should be considered criminal and shall be prosecuted.
Add that Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang in his campaign promises to the people of Plateau State promised to protect lives , cautioned that the sanctity of lives must be protected first, he said.
The Commissioner noted that the ongoing campaign of rehabilitation of the state capital roads requires huge spending and transporters need to contribute because they are the constant user of the roads as commercial by paying Revenue to the government.
He charged the tricycle owners /riders to know that the present government is prepared to provide alternative measures to swiftly transform the sector and improve them by appealing to users to key into it.
He employed all the tricycle owners to submit themselves for data capturing through NIN and within 30 days they would have a comprehensive plan policy to avoid kidnapping and stealing.
