And called on lawyers and Judges in the state that the 2023/24 New Legal Year Celebration is an opportunity for lawyers and Judges who are agents in the temple of Justice to examining themselves ,

“This ceremony, no doubt, is a solemn moment which affords both Judges and Lawyers the opportunity to do personal self-examination on how they handled cases that were presented before them. In their innermost beings, questions such as: “Did I adhere to standards?” “Did I compromise any matter on account of any consideration?” “Did I put my best endeavours or did I trivialize my assignments?” “What impact did I make to the system?”; and many more are apt questions to ask during this occasion. “

“As  a Lawyer and a Judge, if you have not asked yourself any of these questions, I humbly urge you that the time is now. This is no doubt so because a time comes when every person must give account of his deeds here on earth. In the same vein, the New Legal Year ceremony presents opportunities for both the Lawyers and Judges to review strategies and set up new agenda for the emerging Legal Year. The Chairman implore every Lawyer and Judge to evolve a new case management strategy of global repute.”

“A little learning is a dangerous thing;Drink deep, or taste not the Pierian spring.

There shallow draughts intoxicate the brain,And drinking largely sobers us again.Fired at first sight with what the Muse imparts,In fearless youth we tempt the heights of Arts; While from the bounded level of our mind short views we take, nor see lengths behind,But, more advanced, behold with strange surprise new distance scenes of endless science rise ! So please pleased at first the toweri.  Alps we try,Mount o’er the vales, and seem to tread the sky;”

“The  eternal snows appear already past,And the first clouds and mountains seem the last; But those attained, we tremble to surveyThe growing labours of the lengthened way;The increasing prospect tires our wandering eyes,Hills peep o’er hills, and Alps on Alps arise!

He applauded Plateau Chapter of NBA currently in the process of digitalizing court proceedings in the realm of criminal law. Very soon, we will experience digital proceedings in criminal matters from arraignment to judgment courtesy of this Centre. One think I know is that the Centre will not be here all through, it has its time to leave.
